Only 3 horses make it to the Jump-off in Today’s $20,000 Gold Coast Classic

Wellington, FL – February 1, 2003 – Two riders and three horses made it to the jump-off in the $20,000 Gold Coast Classic at the Winter Equestrian Festival. Jeffrey Welles of New York rode Equinox to the victory. Laura Kraut of Wisconsin rode second placed Allegiance and third placed Joyous. Forty-two horses attempted this 1.5m course designed by Frank Rothenberger of Germany.

In the High Amateur-Owner Classic, Mary Moricoli of Illinois won riding her new Dutch mare Tulip in a class of 44 entries. Only 5 horses made it to the second round and of those only 3 horses had double clear. Muffie Guthrie was second on Kasjmein and Cara Cheska was third riding Education.

In the Children’s Jumpers, the younger age section was won by Hank with Hillary Dobbs riding while the older age section was won by Alex Skiffington on Lasantos.
