Cambridge, Ontario – February 22, 2003 - Canada’s Eric Lamaze and Mill Creek Rosalinde placed second in the $20,000 Classic in Wellington, Florida, the same competition they won two weeks earlier during the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival circuit.

Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, and Mill Creek Rosalinde enjoyed victory in the $20,000 Classic on Saturday, February 8, during the CSI*** Kilkenny International tournament held at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club during the Winter Equestrian Festival. Exactly two weeks later on February 22, Lamaze and Mill Creek Rosalinde, an eight-year-old black Hannoverian mare, finished in second position during the fifth consecutive week of show jumping tournaments, the CSI*** Zada Enterprises LLC Wellington Masters.

Jumping at a height of 1.50 meters, only 11 of the 50 horse-rider combinations entered in the $20,000 Classic were able to master the course set by Germany’s Olaf Peterson. Despite high winds, three of the riders were then able to post clear rounds in the jump-off making time the deciding factor.

United States Equestrian Team veteran Beezie Madden, 39, of Cazenovia, NY, who recently represented her country at the 2002 World Equestrian Games, was able to stop the clock in the fastest time riding Authentic to edge Lamaze and Mill Creek Rosalinde for the win. Jeffrey Welles, 40, of Newtown, CT, qualified four horses for the jump-off and was able to repeat his faultless performance with Penelope to finish third. McLain Ward of Brewster, NY, was fourth riding Hurricane while Welles took fifth position with Armani.

A two-time Canadian Show Jumping Champion who has represented Canada at the last three World Equestrian Games, Lamaze was riding Mill Creek Rosalinde for owner Phil Henning and Mill Creek Stables of Cambridge, ON.

“She is proving to be a true up-and-coming star, this one!” said Henning, delighted with the performance of his Hannoverian mare by Ramiro’s Son II and out of Diva by Drosselklang I. Purchased as a four-year-old in Germany, Henning decided that the mare would remain in her home country so that she could gain competition experience in the Young Horse classes.

Showing great promise, Mill Creek Rosalinde qualified for the German Young Horse Championships as a four, five and six-year-old. In the fall of 2001, Henning imported her to Canada where Lamaze continued the mare’s development, jumping Mill Creek Rosalinde in her first grand prix competitions in 2002.

Mill Creek Rosalinde’s second place finish in the $20,000 Classic comes hot on the heels of Mill Creek Stables’ victory on Thursday, February 20, when Yann Candele and Mill Creek Marco Taere, a nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding by Darco, won the $25,000 WEF Challenge Cup in Wellington, FL. Placing second was Megan Johnstone Lamaze of Orinda, CA, riding Chardo, an eight-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Capitol I that the United States Equestrian Team member purchased from Mill Creek Stables in the summer of 2002. Eric Lamaze was fourth riding his 2002 World Equestrian Games partner, Mill Creek Raphael, a 13-year-old Hannoverian gelding by Raphael.
