Skiffington and Madam Alexander Win National Hunter Pony Championship
Lexington, KY - August 11, 2003 - Alexandra Skiffington, 15, of Wellington, FL, rode the large pony Madam Alexander (Welsh: Friars Brenin Dafydd x Clay County) to win the 2003 Wild Horsefeathers/USAE National Hunter Pony Championship, held August 7-8, at The Andrews School, as part of the State Line Tack/USAE Pony Finals. Madam Alexander is owned by Meredith Irving. Exhibitors competed over two days in the small, medium and large sections in over-fences, under-saddle and model classes. Competitors qualified for the event by winning a Championship in an A rated Regular Hunter Pony section at a USA Equestrian competition. As champion Skiffington was the recipient of the International Jumping Derby Perpetual Trophy, donated by Mason Phelps, Jr., a Triple Crown Custom cooler and a gift certificate for a custom pair of Der Dau boots. The judges for the Regular Hunter Ponies were, John Roper of Franklin, TN, John Barker of Middleburg, VA, and Leo Conroy of Wellington, FL. Results:
