New York, NY-September 14, 2005— When Melissa Cohn and her Manhattan Mortgage Company began their relationship with the Hampton Classic Horse Show ten years ago they had no idea that both the Horse Show and the Company would match strides in what the future had in store for them. In fact, over the past ten years the show (that just celebrated its 30th Anniversary) has earned worldwide acclaim. The eight day Hampton Classic is more than just a sponsorship for Ms. Cohn, whose Manhattan Mortgage Company sponsors Opening Day. That is the local day when the surrounding community competes on the same turf that later in the week showcases Olympic veterans and world class riders. One of those riders was Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Fargis who was the winner of the $100,000 Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate Grand Prix on the final Sunday.

Opening Day is the kick-off to a whirlwind of activities at the Hampton Classic. For Ms. Cohn, it’s about being a sponsor, entertaining guests, hosting benefits, competing and doing business.

Ms. Cohn not only invited her patrons to enjoy the activities in the Grand Prix Arena from her chalet but also gave of her time and energy to do what she does so well: support worthy causes. On August 31, Ms. Cohn was the co-chair of “Ride for Hope” and the Equestrian Aids Foundation benefit which also was in honor of retiring Executive Directors Jean Lindgren and Tony Hitchcock and featured acclaimed Broadway star Deborah Cox.

Ms. Cohn believes in giving back to the community that has supported her. Earlier in the year she was recognized by The Retreat, a local Hamptons charitable organization, which honored her with the inaugural The Retreat Hope Award, appropriately presented by Hampton Classic President Dennis Suskind.

Throughout the week Ms. Cohn was even more active than most of the sponsors. She not only competed in the Local Adult Amateur Hunters but she and her horse Bulgari walked away with the Reserve Championship, which is really what it is all about for Ms. Cohn. Riding is her passion and “the Hampton Classic is probably my favorite week of the year,” she admits.

On Opening Day when Ms. Cohn was honored out in the field by Tony Hitchcock, she turned to him and said, “I’m looking forward to 30 more years with the Hampton Classic.” It is because of people like Melissa Cohn that horse shows like the Hampton Classic continue to grow and prosper.
