Brazilian Rider Bernardo Alves Takes Top Placement in the Trofeo Viña Pomal La Coruña, Spain - July 28, 2005 - Moving at a quick pace ahead of the rest of the pack, Brazilian rider Bernardo Alves came in clean in his winning round at 65,08 seconds atop his Holsteiner gelding Corino 7. As the next to last rider on course, Alves had plenty of time to study the best route round the course, and his smart strategy paid off with a cool win of 9.000 euros in prize money. While the wind whipped around the course on the brisk Galician afternoon, Belgian rider Francoise Mathy guided Ivoire du Rouet expertly through the 480 metre long course of 13 obstacles, with a clean round in 66,71 seconds, for a purse of 5.500 euros. The Irish rider Jessica Kuerten successfully completed the course with her mount Castle Forbes Libertina in a clean round of 67,24 seconds, taking home the third place and 4.200 euros. Out of the 37 riders to go on course, a total of 11 were able to finish without penalties. Other top riders had their chance in this second class, but the conditions of blustery winds, a slight rain and fences of 1,5 meters required true precision, strength and style. Belgian rider James Peeters, French riders Eugenie Angot and Patrice Delaveau came in 4th, 5th and 6th, respectively for their accomplished rides. All sights now are set on the next class, the Trofeo NH, which will include the presence of top riders such as Daniel Etter, Marco Kutscher, Rodrigo pessoa, Ludger Beerbaum, Michael Whitaker, Michel Robert and Toni Hassmann, all aboard their top class mounts.
