Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show WHAT: The 31st Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show WHERE: Off Route 27, at 240 Snake Hollow Road, in Bridgehampton WHEN: Hampton Classic Horse Show: August 27 – September 3, 2006 COST: $10/person, $20/carload, children under six are admitted free daily. Watch up-and-coming equestrians, Olympic veterans and world-class riders test their skills. The World of the Horse™ Exhibition Tent and Show Yard will showcase llamas, alpacas, the Millstone Farms miniature horses, an exhibition by the Childrens’ Museum of the East End and the Double-Bar-D Petting Farm. Come with the whole family for only $10 per person or $20 per carload. Children under six are admitted free. The action takes place on Snake Hollow Road, off Rte 27 in Bridgehampton. EQUESTRIAN EVENTS: OPENING DAY: SUNDAY, AUGUST 27 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): The Manhattan Mortgage Company’s Opening Day ceremonies and World of the Horse™ will take place on August 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grand Prix Ring immediately following the Leadline Classes held for riders under the age of 8. The ceremonies feature the afternoon’s featured event: the $20,000 David Yurman Time Challenge (show jumping). MONDAY, AUGUST 28: There will be no competition today, however spectators are invited to come to the show and watch horses and riders in schooling sessions, and to shop in the Boutique Garden or visit the World of the Horse™ Exhibition Tent and Show Yard (where they can pet a llama or miniature horse or learn from the Kids Teaching Kids program) from 10:00 a.m. until late afternoon. No admission charge today. TUESDAY, AUGUST 29 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Today's events include Amateur-Owner, Junior, and Open Jumpers, and Green and Children's Hunters. The Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Classic, the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search and Round One of the 7- & 8-Year-Old Young Jumper Championships. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Round One of the East Coast Young Jumper Championships takes place and competition continues in Amateur-Owner, Junior, and Open Jumper sections. Adult Amateur and Children's Jumper classes also featured. Today's schedule also includes Green, Regular and Adult Amateur Hunters. THURSDAY, AUGUST 31 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): The week’s jumper competition continues with Round 2 of the East Coast Young Jumper Championships as well as Children’s, Adult Amateur, Amateur-Owner, Preliminary and Open Jumpers. Regular and Adult Amateur Hunter and Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Championships take place. The Marshall & Sterling Adult Amateur Hunter Classic is scheduled in the afternoon. Equitation classes take place throughout the day and feature the National PHA Equitation and the USEF Medal. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Friday features a day of qualifying events in the Grand Prix Ring in which top show jumping riders vie for slots in Sunday’s Grand Prix Ring competitions. Starting at 8:30 a.m. is the Show Jumping Derby Welcome Stake Qualifier for Sunday’s $25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby followed by the $50,000 Grey Goose Vodka World Cup Qualifier. The latter class qualifies the thirty top horse-and-rider pairs to go in Sunday’s $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix and also serves as a qualifying event helping to determine which U.S. riders will qualify to ride in the 2007 World Cup Final in Las Vegas next April. Junior Horsemanship highlights include the Washington International Equitation Jumper phase, US Equestrian Pony Medal and the NHSAA/ASPCA Maclay. Competitions in Junior and Amateur-Owner divisions continue today. CABLEVISION’S KIDS DAY/DIA DE LOS NINOS, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): The 13th annual Cablevision Kids Day features activities for children and their parents. Children under 12 are admitted free. Cablevision’s Kids Day takes place at the World of the Horse™ Exhibition Tent and Show Yard located behind the main grandstands. Children can gather around Alcazar the Magician to witness his sleight of hand. The Great Rubini will create balloon animals and paint children’s faces. Kids can also learn a few tricks themselves as the National Circus Project teaches juggling, plate spinning and stilt walking. Several Hispanic acts will perform on stage as part of the Classic’s ongoing salute to the growing Latin American population of Long Island. There are free pony rides for children throughout the day. Jumper Ring II will feature the US Equestrian Zone 2 Medal Championship at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Marshall & Sterling Adult Amateur Jumper Classic and Children's Jumper Classic. Featured Saturday events include the $15,000 Junior Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at 9:00 a.m., the seventh annual $10,000 Equitation Championship, and the Pony Hunter Classic. The featured show jumping event of the day is the $25,000 Sotheby’s International Realty Challenge, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Prix Ring. GRAND PRIX “SUPER SUNDAY,” SEPTEMBER 3 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Grand Prix Day's festivities at the Hampton Classic begin with the Young Jumper Championship Finals which will award a total of $80,000 in prize money in three divisions – 5-year-old, 6-year-old, and 7- & 8-year-old. These Finals will be followed by the $10,000 Hermés Hunter Classic and the $25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby. The Hampton Classic Horse Show’s grand finale — the $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix — takes place at 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Prix Ring. The Grand Prix is recognized by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) as a CSI 3-star event. A variety of awards presentations also take place including a gold and silver David Yurman belt buckle and a jeroboam of Louis Roederer Champagne to be awarded to the Grand Prix winner.
