DeRosa Daily - The 2007 Rolex FEI Las Vegas World Cup USA's
McLain Ward Rocks the Thomas & Mack Arena Some Lasting Memories There were other bits and pieces of information that I picked up throughout the night. I learned that Ilian was the oldest horse in the class and that Belgium rider Judy-Ann Melchior was the youngest rider. I watched as Margie Engle’s Hidden Creek’s Quervo Gold hit a pole so hard it bounced out of the cup but then landed right back in it. There was Michael Whitaker (GBR) who was competing in his 19th World Cup but this time had two refusals on Suncal Portofino 63. Photo: Margie Engle’s Hidden Creek’s Quervo Gold by Diana DeRosa One of the most amazing feats was when Rich Fellers lost his stirrup over the first part of a combination. He somehow managed to get over the second fence and in a determined effort got the stirrup back without interrupting his course. It was truly amazing to not only see such great horsemanship but to feel the arena come alive with enthusiasm. What a great beginning to the first day of World Cup competition. It was a class that truly rocked! Feel free to email me (dderosa1@optonline.net) with your questions or comments. It’s always nice to hear from the Horsesdaily readers |
