DeRosa Daily Dish- Rolex FEI World Cup Finals 2007

Beat Mandli Won the Show Jumping Finals
But in Vegas, Everyone is a Winner

American Showjumpers Had a Bad Day

Our American riders were having a bad day in the Final two rounds as a lot of rails were falling. Our only real hope was McLain Ward who had won the first day and only had one rail down in the second competition. Going into this third competition we were all hopeful, including McLain. But it was not to be as two rails fell in the first round and one in the second.

When asked in the Press Conference what happened, McLain responded, "I rode badly. The horse jumped great the first two days. She was a little quiet today. I over-road her the first round (and had two rails down). I was a little shocked by the wall in the second round normally she jumps that well (he was referring to a solid wall where they knocked down one of the top blocks). I think for that horse and myself it was a very mediocre performance. The sum of the whole weekend was very disappointing. I thought I had a shot when I came here. We are not going to change our program or our plan. We are just going to do better the next time.”
