Experts Share Their Insights at Dressage at Devon
Top dressage authorities offer commentary through audio headsets
at 25th Annual Dressage at Devon Horse Show, October 1-3, 1999.

Dressage at Devon is the highest rated international dressage
competition outside of Europe, drawing top riders from across
the United States and around the world. Dressage With the Experts
offers show spectators an opportunity to hear what highly knowledgeable
authorities in the field of dressage have to say about the riders
as they actually compete.
Special radio-equipped headsets link spectators with a seasoned
dressage expert who provides a continuous commentary on competing
horses and riders. The subtle differences that distinguish a good
performance from a great one will be highlighted. The insight
offered will be valuable to both dressage riders and seasoned
spectators as well as those with little knowledge of this classical
equestrian discipline.
An impressive panel has been lined up for Dressage with the Experts.
On Friday, at 8:45 p.m., Kathy Connelly will offer observations
and explanations during the Grand Prix Qualifier for Freestyle
class. Connelly rode for the United States in the World Cup in
1989. She was the 1988 and 1989 United States Grand Prix Freestyle
Champion, and has trained many horses and riders to national titles.
On Saturday afternoon, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Marilyn Heath
will provide insight during the Jr. Dressage Team Championship
class. Heath holds a Senior judges rating. She has competed in
the World Championships in dressage and won the Vintage Cup Championship
in 1989.
On Saturday, at 8 p.m., Lendon Gray will provide the commentary
for the Grand Prix Freestyle competition. Gray is a successful
trainer and instructor. She was a member of the ė80 and ė88 Olympic
Dressage Teams and competed in the '91 World Cup.
On Sunday, from 3:20 to 5:50 p.m., Col. A.R. "Bud"
Kitts will enlighten participants watching the Intermediaire I
Freestyle class. Col. Kitts has enjoyed a long career as an accomplished
dressage rider and international judge. He currently serves as
Professor and Director of Equestrian Studies at Wilson College
in Chambersurg, PA.
Dressage With the Experts
Dressage With the Experts will be offered Friday evening, October
1, Saturday afternoon and evening, October 2, and Sunday afternoon,
October 3. Each session will include one entire class. Tickets
are $15 and $20, and will be available at the Program Booth by
the Main Entrance to the show, or, in advance, by calling Ann
Kramkowski, 610.649.9622 or Cindy Connors, 610.649.5636. Seating
is limited, so early ticket purchases are recommended. Dressage
With the Experts is sponsored by Practical Horseman, a publication
of Primedia, Inc. Commentators will also receive gift certificates
donated by Ricks Heritage Saddlery in West Chester, PA.
Dressage at Devon takes place at the Devon Horse Show Grounds,
Route 30, in Devon Pennsylvania and runs from September 28 through
October 3 and includes a breeding competition, dressage competition,
special exhibitions, food, shops, and children's activities. General
admission is $6; children under 12 are admitted at no charge.
