2002 World Equestrian Games The Press Room - page 3 We also enjoy the privilege of the "Relax Area" which is a shaded seating area, where coffee and cookies are served all day (often the only food we manage to get) and the best seats in the house for the competition. Kit Houghton, the photographers liaison and chief press officer Lucia Montarella, have accomplished the impossible with the security of opening night ceremonies surrounding the arrival of King Juan Carlos II, for starters, not to mention managing Awards ceremonies and proper placement of areas from where we can shoot. We have an apartment so we can prepare our own meals, but there is no time to shop for groceries, as our neighbor and accommodation arranger, Canadian Karen Robinson gives is 3 rolls of toilet paper, the most immediate need we have. With cost of food at the venue astronomical, and the quality, which leaves much to be desired, we have relied on take out from a wonderful café near our apartment. Still my stomach cannot handle the Spanish food I have had so far, and I am sticking with pasta at night and peanut butter sandwiches during the day. I spite of all those carbs, I am losing weight, and not complaining! I have managed to steal and hour of quiet time, waking for some reason at 5:30 AM, to write this, before we head out to find our way to the cross country course, a rehearsal for Saturday's event. If it were not for having DressageDaily.com or the date on my computer, I would lose track of what day it actually is, Friday the 13th has just begun. |
