US Dressage Squad - Truly A Team!

Seidel and WilcoxA close-knit American team that has spent a lot of time together both in preparing for the Games and socializing (most recently at barbecues in Germany hosted by Coach Balkenhol and teammate Lisa Wilcox and co-coach Ernst Hoyos) celebrated their Silver Medal with their horses' owners at a champagne party following the awards and press conference. "We would have had a party no matter what," said Guenter Seidel. "Even if it had been to drown our sorrows!" he joked. But US competitors Sue Blinks, Debbie McDonald, Guenter Seidel, and Lisa Wilcox had plenty to celebrate both as a team and individually. In the Grand Prix the individual placings for the Americans were: McDonald, 2nd; Wilcox 4th; Blinks, 7th; and Seidel 13th.
