2002 World Equestrian Games They Didn't Win A Medal, But They Won Our Hearts Notable Rides At 2002 WEG
Cutest
Horse At The Games?
Lone Jorgensen and FBW Kennedy
Lone Jorgensen of Denmark, the 27th rider on the first day of the Grand Prix,
had a hand in shifting the placings for the top scorers. Her remarkable ride
on the little chestnut FBW Kennedy earned a 71.920%, momentarily taking third
place individually. Though most riders are not partial to the word 'cute'
when it comes to their Grand Prix horse, this one certainly fits the bill in
the most complimentary way. FBW Kennedy exhibited fabulous extensions, and
light, expressive, charming passage and piaffe. His pirouettes looked easy
and fun for him. FBW Kennedy's movements are shown off to best advantage by
his four dazzling white stockings. It must have been one of his best tests,
as Jorgensen pounded him with pats. The pair ended up in 10th place overall
in the Grand Prix with a score of 73.200%, which qualified them for the
Special.
In the Special, this duo showed another consistent performance which earned
them almost the exact same score, 73.240%, but moved them up to 9th place
overall going into the Freestyle.
In the kur, Jorgensen used the Pink Panther music for her opening passage
work and for much of the first part of her test, and as the finale – cute
music that matched his movements, but perhaps a bit too much of the same
tune! Jorgensen again seemed absolutely thrilled with her horse and gave him
huge pats at the end. The judges awared 76.500% which bumped them up another
notch to complete the Games in 8th place overall.
