2002 World Equestrian Games FEI Officials checked the Footing in Chapin Stadium August 28, 2002 The installations for the World Equestrian Games had a new test on Tuesday 27 August, fourteen days before the Opening ceremony on 10. September. The Official FEI-Delegates for Dressage, Gotthilf Riexinger (GER) and Show Jumping, Olaf Petersen (GER), tested the footing in Chapin Stadium in Jerez. A few young local riders performed the test. All the footing in Jerez is provided by the French company Toubin&Clement, located near Paris and was delivered at the beginning of August. In this new test the Dressage Official Gotthilf Riexinger explained: “The arena is much better in this second test. It is now at 80 per cent of what we want and I’m convinced that it will be perfect for the World Equestrian Games. The texture needs a little bit more of elasticity but holds perfectly to curb”. This opinion was shared by Olaf Petersen, FEI Technical Delegate for Show Jumping. “The arena has a few bumps but it will be 100 per cent perfect for the World Equestrian Games,” he said. “I can see the horses have a very good take off and landing. We are very confident with the company Toubin&Clement for their experience and quality”. On behalf of the French Company, Xavier Regnard said: “Everything has to be tested and this is a normal procedure.” He promised to give a special treatment to the arena to became “sweeter” when it is time for the Dressage competition, the discipline that opens the first day of the Games. |
