Promoting the Breed

In 1987, ANCCE reached an agreement with the Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior ("ICEX" = Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade) to work jointly on promotional activities abroad and since 1991, ICEX has been working with ANCCE to promote the Spanish horse internationally in Europe and America. ANCEE has enjoyed the involvement of artists such as Robert Vavra and Peter Müller of National Geographic who have produced books, videos and posters of the Spanish Horse. Furthermore, advertising campaigns have been run in the most important magazines within the equestrian sector worldwide. ANCCE has also represented Purebred Spanish horses at various international and European trade fairs.

SICAB: International Horse Show

In 1980, in pursuit of its objectives, ANCCE began to organise the Spanish Conformation Championship, an exclusive event for purebred Spanish horses held now at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones (Congress and Exhibition Hall/Complex) of Seville.

SICAB, the International Horse Fair, organised by ANCCE was founded in 1991. SICAB raised the importance of the conformation championships and led to massive levels of attendance by the public coming to see the Purebred Spanish Horses in action.

In just a few years the sheer number of horses participating in SICAB has made this event one of the most important monographic fairs in the world. More than 220.000 visitants, 1.200 PRE horses from 171 studs came last year and the numbers attending set to rise every year.

One of the activities to highlight is the Spanish ANCCE Conformation Championships, where one can find the best qualified horses of the almost 40 preeliminar competitions held during the whole year. Furthermore, they are also ANCCE Cups on Dressage, Driving, Doma Vaquera and High School as well as a night show with PRE and an exhibition competition.

"El Caballo Español" magazine

"El Caballo Español" magazine was founded in 1980 as a means of increasing awareness of the breed. It is a bi-monthly ANCCE publication whose contents are devoted exclusively to the Purebred Spanish horse. It publishes general information, news on competitions and informative features on more specific topics such as dressage, shoeing, nutrition and so on.

"El Caballo Español" was the first equestrian publication in Spain and it has become the leading informative publication about Purebred Spanish horses and the main means of communication between ANCCE and many equestrian enthusiasts and breeders spread throughout the world. "El Caballo Español" is circulated in more than 50 countries.
