"The Silver Horse" Media Award to be Presented at CHIO Aachen

in Co-operation with the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V.

Nominations for Media Award

On June 17th, 2003 the media award "The Silver Horse" will be presented
in Aachen. During their meeting on Monday at Gut Heidchen, the family
estate of Olympic Champion Nadine Capellmann, the members of the jury nominated
the possible winners for the categories print, radio and television, each of them endowed with a prize of 2.600 Euro. At a press conference in the judges' tower of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverin e.V. (ALRV) the jury introduced the names of the hopeful candidates for the national media award. Furthermore the jury decided to award an additional Silver Horse to a celebrity, who has made outstanding contributions to horse sport. However, this person's name will not be announced before the award's ceremony in the Champions' Circle on the show grounds. Last year Hans Günter Winkler was awarded the Silver Horse, because in his whole life
and until today he has been exceedingly contributing to equestrian sports.

The jury consists of the following personalities: Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier, the President of the German Riders' and Drivers' Association (DRFV) Wolfgang Brinkmann, Hilarius Simons (DRFV), Dr. Stefan Ziffzer, Chairman of the Management Board of the Deutsches SportFernsehen, Peter C. Fischer, Chief Editor Deutschlandfunk, Evi Simeoni, Editor Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and ALRV-President Klaus Pavel.

"The Silver Horse" is presented by the German Riders' and Drivers' Association in co-operation with the ALRV. The purpose of the media award is to motivate journalists to do intensive and sophisticated press coverage of the equestrian sport. The Silver Horses will be presented on the same occasion as the "Silver Camera", the award for the best international equestrian photograph of the year, which is presented by
the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) in co-operation with the ALRV
and the Sparkassen.

The eulogies for the "Media-Night - The Silver Horse and Silver Camera"
will be held by, amongst others, the Federal Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Peer Steinbrück and Stefan Aust, Chief Editor of the News Magazine "Der Spiegel", Hans-Heinrich Isenbarth will lead through the evening as presenter.
