Future Stars For Sale at 2003 CHIO Aachen

Each year the Westfalian and Rhinelander Verband organize a joint sale of future dressage prospects at the CHIO Aachen. In between dressage rides and classes, the selected youngsters are presented under saddle showing their three basic gaits and potential. The sale started on Wednesday June 18, 2003, and within 24 hours eighth horses were sold.

Martin Spoo, manager of the Rhinelander Verband, and Peter Krautwig, PR representative of the Westphalian Verband, are thrilled with this result, that has already beaten last year's intake. The price range for a CHIO Sales horse is between 20,000 and 60,000 Euro and the eigth horses sold cover a price of more than 300,000 Euro.

Current price highlight of the 16th CHIO Sales is the Westfalian mare Laurentin by Lord Sinclair. The 4-year old mare was the reserve champion of the 2003 Westfalian Elite Mare Show. Pictured is Weltrose, a Weltmeyer offspring ridden by young horse specialist Henrike Sommer-Boker. Henrike presented the wonderful bay on Wednesday.

Two former CHIO Sales horses came in action at the 2003 CDI competition and these were Fiona Bigwood' Habana (1992 Chio Sales) and Nicole Glaser Kappeler's Floriano Deux (1995 Chio sales).
