2004 CSIO Aachen

Chris Kappler's Olympic Place Doubtful

July 15, 2004

Chris Kappler on Royal KaliberIt is currently doubtful whether the American show jumper Chris Kappler (37) from Pittstown/New Jersey will be able to compete at the Olympic Games. His best horse, the 12- year-old Dutch stallion, Royal Kaliber, is suffering from an acute leg injury.

Consequently the US team coach and six-time Olympic competitor, Frank Chapot, has reorganised his team for the Nations Cup at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2004.

Instead of Kappler, Alison Firestone (27) from Virginia will join the official team in Aachen, riding her Swedish gelding, Casanova, (14). The USEF management team is now hoping that Royal Kaliber will recover in time for Athens.
