2004 CSIO Aachen Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum's Shutterfly Tested Positive to Doping July 19, 2004
Remarkably not included in the German Olympic Team is Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, whose top horse Shutterfly tested positive to doping. On June 8, 2004, the FEI alerted the German Equestrian Federation that at the 2004 World Cup Finals Show Jumping (22-25 April 2004) Shutterfly was tested for doping. The results of the A-test showed that the horse was positive for metabolits of the substance Hydrozy-Promazine (which is part of the tranquillizer Acepromazin). The B-test of the sample also turned out to be positive. Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum denies the fact that she has used doping on her horse. Right after the Aachen Grand Prix, the German Olympic Show Jumping team was named. The German team includes riders
Christian Ahlmann on Cöster, Otto Becker on Dobel´s Cento, Ludger Beerbaum on Goldfever and
Marcus Ehning on For Pleasure. Reserve rider is Marco Kutscher on Montender.
