Freestyles Escalate in Artistry at 2005 FEI Offield Farms World Cup Finals Las Vegas Gal and Van Grunsven Top the U.S.
Uwe Mechlem, the judge at C, said, “I gave a 10 for the music. You cannot find anything you can make better, and it fitted very well to the movement of the horse and the type of the horse.” Gal enthralled the crowd with his horse's elasticity. He went from a true medium canter into double pirouettes, and then into the two tempis. His artistic scores showed 90s from three judges.
In the
piaffe-passage tour, one sequence of transitions included from passage
to piaffe, a half-pirouette in piaffe, passage, piaffe, a quarter-pirouette
in piaffe, passage, and extended trot. Four judges gave Keltec Salinero
scores in the 90s for artistic merit.   |

Brentina
was a tough act to follow, but from the start Gal showed off his stallion's
rhythm and elegance. His effortless transitions showed his connection
with Geldnet Lingh, an exceptionally talented mover.
Van
Grunsven had the challenge of besting that outstanding ride. She showed
off the fabulous Keltec Salinero, who has elevated action at every gait.
He seemed to spring upward at every stride, skimming through a freestyle
of a high degree of difficulty.
