Derosa Daily April 23, 2005: Working and Travelling The press room is just outside the arena and is a large room with tables set up for the working press and with a social area where breakfast and dinner are served daily. Adjacent to that is where the press conferences are held. There are T-1 lines available mostly for the photographers and phone lines for the press who are writing stories. So, sending your photos and stories fortunately is not a problem. Overall the press room is well setup. The biggest difficulty for those of us who depend on the shuttle service is that the last shuttle back to the hotel was often before you are finished for the night. So, you have to pack up and go back to your hotel to finish the workload for the day. The shuttle service is pretty dependable and there are shuttles to different parts of town. Fortunately, they seem to come fairly frequently and because Las Vegas is rather compact no shuttle ride is too long. For those of us who have ridden on buses for an hour or more at World Equestrian or Olympic Games, that is a good thing. It gets tiring wasting time traveling from place to place when you know you could spend that time getting your work done. And so that was it’s like for us here in a nutshell. |
