On The Scene at the FEI Las Vegas World Cup for Dressage and Showjumping

The Competition

Kimberly FreyKimberly Frey on Marlou was the highest placed American and this was the first World Cup she had ever competed in. She dropped a rail in the first round but then was clear in the second round and finished fifth overall. Lady luck (and in this town that’s a good thing) was with Frey for that second round because at fence #2, when she hit the top pole it stayed up. Marlou continued on and jumped a combination set across the arena (6A-B) with a spectacular effort. The time they recently spent in Europe paid off at these competitions. Later in the press conference Frey commented, “It really helped competing in Europe.” She further explained that you are constantly facing off against the top riders in the world and that always improves your riding.

Be sure to read all the press releases at horsesdaily.com to find out more about how that final World Cup competition. And victory certainly was the key word at these games. Hands down this World Cup in Las Vegas had spectators jumping out of their seats and it didn’t matter if it was for show jumping or dressage or hunters or the many entertainers. When the ring opened with action, the spectators were focused.
