Florida Horse Park Announces Schedule for 2006-2007 Season

Ocala, FL – The Florida Horse Park is pleased to release its 2006-2007 season schedule which includes several new events and an expanded polo calendar. Tom Warriner, Chairman of the Park’s board is looking forward to the second successful show season. “This year, our mission is to give evidence of the statewide impact of the Park and get the attention and support of the new governor. We are planning a full competition schedule that will, for the second year in a row, bring competitors and horse enthusiasts to Ocala from all over the world.”

The Park will kick off its 2nd annual show season at the Ocala Horse Trials and Sunshine State Driving Event November 18-19, 2006. In the 3-Day Event, the dressage and cross country phases will run Saturday with the show jumping competition taking place on Sunday. The nationally recognized Combined Driving show will take place on Saturday when drivers with their horses and carriages compete in the 3 phases of competition; dressage, driving cones and marathon. The Park is also planning an extensive vendor village managed by TnT events which will include artisans, food vendors and equestrian boutique items from across the state.

The expanded season schedule includes a fall dressage show on Nov. 4-5, a summer polo league which will run August 16-September 10 and a winter polo league. Shelley Lambert, Director of Events at the Park, manages the event schedule and is the chief event organizer. “We’re looking forward to another exciting competition season that will be bigger and better than last year.”

Brad Limehouse, professional polo player and manager of the newly formed Florida Horse Park Polo Club, is developing a polo program that complements the Villages Polo Club and the south Florida winter polo season. “There has been a need for a fun league to help players and their horses warm up for the winter season. The summer league, which runs right before the fall polo season at the Villages, will serve as a stop-over point for many players coming from out of state to play at the Villages or in South Florida. I think we will see some exciting polo being played at the Park this summer.”
