Your Own Fantasy DressageTeam for Fun and a Great Cause!
Equestrian Sports Go On-Line to Benefit Breast Cancer Research at The Fantasy Team Challenge
Fantasy Sports, a new concept in the equestrian community, will soon prove to be a great promotional tool for the sport of Dressage, as well as an extremely popular and enjoyable method of following the progress of favorite riders throughout the season, says Mary Ross, co-founder, along with Betsy Steiner, of the Fantasy Team Challenge. While you are at it be sure to save the date, Saturday, March 8, 2008 for The Challenge of the Americas at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, Wellington, Florida: an international team dressage & jumper competition that includes teams from the United States, Canada and Latin America. The competition format consists of musical freestyles and team quadrilles performed at the level of the Grand Prix and ridden by leading professionals from the above countries. The Fantasy Team Challenge, an on-line competition, is played throughout the United States and benefits The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To participate in the Fantasy competition a person or a group of people creates an imaginary team comprised of four favorite riders from First Level through Grand Prix. Team selections can include riders from anywhere in the U.S. or from other countries - any rider competing within the U.S. and participating in at least three USEF sanctioned competitions is eligible for team selection. Final team scores will be tallied using actual scores earned by each team member competing from December through March. “If you ever dreamed about creating the perfect team of dressage riders, and including yourself or a stable pal in the mix, this is your opportunity. It’s fun, exciting and for a good cause”, notes Betsy Steiner. Selecting the best Fantasy Team is without a doubt the main goal of a Fantasy participant; however, it should also be the most fun. If you compete regularly include yourself on your team, as well as others you enjoy horse showing with. Have fun, team up with friends. You needn’t post all your scores, just the best three rides from December through March. And remember, you have upper level professional selections to assist with your team’s final score.
