April 24 - "Along the I-75" by Dave Hunter is a travel writer's trip ticket from Michigan to Florida. I currently have a signed 1999 version, after contacting him to ask more about the book. Self published by his company Mile Oak Publishing Inc, in Mississaugua, Ontario Canada, Hunter travels the I-75 each year, updating "local knowledge" for the I75 between Detroit and the Florida border.

The book's cover claims it can "Turn a BORING drive into a fun trip, and it's true. Have you ever wondered what lies beyond the exits that tick by when you have to get the miles behind you? "Along the I-75" provides insider travel tips, maps, and best bets, with colorfully written history lessons that make us want to stop and explore at each bend. For each notable exit, there is a description of what lies beyond. I help to entertain JJ by reading the passages as we make our way through Tennessee. We are coming up on TN Mile 42, which was part of the path of the Spanish Explorers 1539.

During the boring parts of the drive, I work on my laptop set up on a big wooden cutting board in my lap, on the passenger side of the truck. I can do some typing and even work with images when the road is not so bumpy. In spite of the combined efforts of my computer techs and Nextel, I am still unable to get my cell phone to connect, in order to pick up e-mail and go on the web to upload pages. Perseverance will further, but not today.
