On The Road - Mary's Travel Journal The
Road to The 2002
Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event
April 24 - It's Tuesday evening and almost all the hookups at the KHP Campground are taken. Almost filled with event riders, grooms, workers, volunteers, and fans who plan their entire year around the biggest and most famous three-day-event in America. Also, there is a large dog show and agility competition, which will be held concurrently with the event, attracting even more campers with a large collection of many breeds. No problem for us, as we have a generator, and even solar power in our comfy camper. For now at least we have the entire field to ourselves, which make Winnie and Gizmo very happy. It took less than 1 hour to settle in, and kick back to watch TV. This is known as "the primitive campground" and this is about as primitive as I prefer when camping! They now have a computer port at the Campground office, so I can connect. We have a system at our home office when we are on the road. Our fabulous assistant Tracey, checks home e-mails in the morning and cleans out all the spam and messages she can handle. Then she forwards all press releases and important e-mails to a private account for me to retrieve. When we get the cell phone working, it's still slow, as are most land line connections. This helps cut down own valuable phone minutes, and time spent in campground offices and press centers. |
