The Road to The 2002 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

The Phelps Women Arrive

Winnie, Mary, Renie, Gizmo, and NancyApril 27 - It has been a long-standing Phelps family tradition that we are joined by my Mom, Renie, for the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. The Phelps family goes back over 5 generations in Kentucky. Our farm was homesteaded by my fifth Great Grandfather, Shadrack Phelps, who fought in the revolutionary war with Daniel Boone. My sister Nancy purchased the Phelps family home, which is a historical property, and works for The Kentucky Center for Rural Development.

Our newer bigger camper can accommodate guests, which is way more fun than trying to find a hotel room in Lexington over one of the busiest weekends of the year. Besides, we get to eat at JJ's Cafe, my husband's campground special of steak, salmon, and veggies cooked over an open fire, with some fine wine and beer.

Then we sit by the campfire and tell tall tales, as the full moon cast a glow over our peaceful setting. The calm before tomorrow's storm.....
