2003 North American Young Riders Championships

Canadian Eventers Win Team Bronze at 2003 NAYRC

The Ontario/Quebec CH-C** eventing team, made up of Colleen Loach of North Hatley, QC, Jacquie Sturm of New Hamburg, ON, Ashley Minion of Warsaw, ON, and Shandiss Wewiora of Oakville, ON, won the team bronze medal with a score of 302.2 penalty points. The gold medal went to USA Area 2 with 226.6 penalties. Silver went to USA Area 3/5/8 with 230.4 penalty points. Individually, Minion, riding Taylor Made, placed seventh with 79.60 penalties, Loach earned a eighth place finish with 84.0 penalties riding Dare to Compare, and Wewiora, aboard Remington Chase, finished with 138.60 penalties for 12th place.

The Ontario CCIY/J* Team of consisting of Amanda Beard of Orillia, ON, Waylon Roberts of Port Perry, ON, Hilary Popiel of Carleton Place, ON, and Lindsay Pearce of Tecumseh, ON, finished in fifth place overall with 266.7 penalties. The combined British Columbia/Ontario CCIY/J* team of Trish Green of Orton, ON, Ashley Knight of Orillia, ON, Brandon McMechan of Shannonville, ON, and Samantha Taylor of Richmond, BC, placed sixth with 271.7 penalty points. The Alberta/Ontario/Quebec team, comprised of Colleen Loach, Jessica Ruppel of Ravenna, ON, Colin Campbell of Stittsville, ON, and Sarah Green of Calgary, AB, finished in seventh place with 271.9 penalties.

In individual CCIJ* competition, Roberts placed sixth, with 66.1 penalties, aboard Paleface. Popiel, riding Snow Boots, finished in ninth place with 79.9 penalty points.

Loach, aboard Glorious Colours, placed seventh overall in CCI*Y individual competition with 88.0 penalties. Campbell, riding C 5's Conflict of Interest, finished in ninth with 99.9 penalty points. Sarah Green and Aramis placed tenth with 100.7 penalties, Trish Green and Amadeus placed 11th, and Amanda Beard and Paint Me Gold placed 13th.
