Daily Equestrian Olympic News On A Personal Note Linda Macklin (VA) wrote, “Great photos and totally cool article in the NY Daily News.” Cynthia Keating (SC) commented, “So nice to read your wonderful reports. Go USA!” Lyn Davis (AL) noted, “Hey there world traveler. I'm really curious what the stabling is like for the horses. I was at the '96 Olympics in Atlanta/Conyers and of course that stabling was fabulous. Are all the different disciplines stabled in the same area--dressage, eventers, show jumpers? Are they stabled by countries? I'd love to see some pictures from behind the scenes if that is possible. Thanks for keeping us informed and updated. Lyn, I’ve already shot off an email to see if I can get an answer for you. (I’m also looking into a request earlier this week about Guenter.) I’ll be sure to answer both those requests as soon as I can. Kourtney DeRosa (Brooklyn, NY) wrote, “Wow, how impressive! Hang in there, enjoy every minute, and know that sleep is overrated!” Jerry Lucido (Upstate , NY) wrote, “Hey Diana, Great stuff! With swimming, gymnastics and volleyball monopolizing the TV Coverage, I've not seen any Equestrian segments. It looks like Team USA is having some problems... not being familiar with world rankings, was Team USA expected to do better? Hey Jerry, our Eventers are a strong team and they were expected to do better (and ultimately did because Gina took the Individual Silver), but a bit of bad luck and a changed course impacted on the final results. Karen Tappenden asked me to keep an eye out for a new cooling blanket. Her request, “Hey if you see Doug Hannum working with the horses probably the event team, using the special cooling blanket, get me a shot! McKinnon Ice Horse was developed special for the Games.” Donna Manvich wrote, “I am so enjoying the pictures! I used to think of China as drab brown-grey, which were the colors of the country after the revolution so as not to evoke class status or materialism. Mao must be a whirling dervish, all the colors are glorious! Stay well!” I love it when you email me and especially if you pass along a tid bit of information or a question. So, come on, do some clicking on your computer. I want to hear from you (dderosa1@optonline.net). |
