Steffen Peters – Quiet, Calm Yet Focused

When you meet Steffen you are soothed by his calm yet focused personality.  He has a way with both humans and horses.  He works well with both of them.  Steffen is the type of person that doesn’t allow anyone to take him off track.  He knows what he is doing and he maintains that forward moving direction.

Peters originally came from Germany but moved to the United States in 1985.  It wasn’t until 1992 that he became a U.S. citizen.  In 1996 he won a Team Bronze Medal at the Atlanta Olympic Games, riding Udon.  In 2006 he joined teammate McDonald for the Team Bronze riding Floriano.

His latest mount is Ravel, a 10-year-old Dutch-bred stallion.  They led the Selection Trials right from the start earning their ticket to this year’s Olympic Games.

The U.S. has won an Olympic Team Dressage Bronze Medal six times and only one Individual Bronze Medal.  They were Team Silver once (and that was at the 1948 Games).

When Steffen entered the arena as the last rider to go he knew the score he needed to get to help the team to a Bronze Medal, despite Debbie’s low score. In the end he and Ravel couldn’t quite make it but they did their best.

And even though Debbie’s and Brentina’s swan song didn’t quite go the way she wanted, Steffen and Courtney still have a chance for an Individual Medal.

I think it’s time for something good to happen to good people.

Send a Positive Message to Debbie

Let’s rally together for Debbie.  You can bet she’s feeling pretty down right now.  Not so much for herself but she probably blames herself for losing the chance for a team medal.  But let’s show her that there’s always tomorrow.  Send me your emails with your thoughts or memories of Debbie and Brentina.  I’ll compile them all and pass them along.

Memories and good thoughts can go a long way to ease the sadness of a medal lost.  So, take some time to email me at dderosa1@optonline.net.
