A Bit About the Class

It was great to see that Steffen Peters with Ravel and Courtney King on Mythilus really continued to show our strength.  I remember in the earlier Olympics when we didn’t even have a prayer of getting scores of 70 and now many of our top riders are doing just that.

When our riders went into the Grand Prix Special, Courtney stood 7th and Steffen 10th but after the Grand Prix Special Steffen is now in the 4th spot (so close but yet so far).  Those in front of him are the best of the best (Isabell and Satchmo, Anky Van Grunsven and Salinero, and Heike Kemmer and Bonaparte).  Getting past them will be tough, but then he’s already moved up a few spots.  Courtney is now standing 8th.

The Freestyle is a perfect opportunity for riders to standout because they can use their horse’s brilliance in time with the music to impress the judges and the audience.  

In our sport there are two living beings to contend with, not just a ball and a player.   So, anything can happen.

Both Courtney and Steffen have shown that they are consistent.  Let’s hope that consistency gives them a shot at a medal.
