Chatting With Kathleen Raine
Since they must qualify on that horse as well, that means the U.S. has no team alternate rider. Naturally, Kathleen is disappointed and upset that the news of this change never filtered back to the U.S. At first Kathleen was riding Fidelia regularly while in Sydney, but then she decided, "There's no point in keeping her peaking. She's worked so hard the whole time just to get here and through the selection process." Kathleen's decided the right thing to do is give Fidelia a break. So, rather than be disappointed, Raine is going to enjoy the Olympic experience. "I love Sydney. I think it is a beautiful city and now I've got more free time to enjoy it." On the horsey side, Raine is happy with the conditions for the horses. "The stable area is great. The only problem is there is not hot water for the horses. But the people are so friendly and helpful." By Diana De Rosa |
