Morelli Cathy As Teacher
She feels that the horses being trained in the over bent method are being constrained, which then results in grinding of the teeth, stiff necks and backs, being on the forehand, and not enough activity in the hindquarters. Even very talented horses are not working up to their full potential. She sees horses becoming angrier and tenser, and the beauty of expression and self-carriage is lost. Over bending of the neck, she believes, gives the rider a sense of control over the horse, but at the expense of many other qualities. She has seen both riders and horses become very frustrated because they cannot achieve the desired result. Their training methods become abusive; they give up, or they sell their horses. |
