Amber Heintzberger

An Equestrian Background

Amber has been involved in horses since childhood, when her parents owned a boarding stable in California. Her father Hank is a farrier and blacksmith and her mother Leslie still runs a small boarding operation in addition to keeping Hank's business organized.

Ever since her first shaggy Shetland pony Amber has been a rider, first on the trails and in the hunter/jumper rings of the Central California Coast, then later, living in Kentucky, she and her younger brother Land became interested in eventing and also active in the US Pony Club.

Later moving to North Carolina, both brother and sister remained active in horses and in Pony Club, competing in USPC Championships from 1989-1997 in tetrathlon, eventing dressage and show jumping. Working student positions and lessons and clinics with top trainers helped round out her understanding of the hard work and dedication that it takes to be involved in horses. As an H-A level graduate of the USPC, Amber also acted as a USPC visiting instructor in California for several summers.
