Finnegan 1999-2006

Ruth Hogan Poulson's Young Horse mount, Finnegan (Rhinelander by Fidermark) was euthenized on Tuesday, October 10th 2006 after sustaining a terrible fracture to his left hock. Poulson writes: "There are many of you who supported Finnegan and his owner Sally Dininny as well as myself over the years and I want to thank you for that. Finnegan had a very big fan club.

Finnegan was purchased by Sally Dininny at his birth and he came into my life when he was 2 years old. As a 5 year old, Finnegan was invited to compete with the best young horses in the country at the FEI 5 year old championships. At 6 Finnegan competed at 3ed and 4th level and graced the cover of magazines for his correct way of going. At 7 years Finnegan began his FEI career by winning the Gold Coast Dressage Association PSG year end champion and after only 6 FEI tests, secured and average that placed him in the top 100 in the country.

I want to thank Sally for her unwavering support of me and Finnegan through the years, without here there was no team. I also want to thank Finnegan. Finnegan challenged me every day to learn more, ride better and to be a better horsewomen. He did all that and more. It’s not every day that one gets to ride and 18.1 hand stallion and feel like a queen… I am proud to have been his rider and person and will miss him every day…"
