Dancing into 2006

An exciting year in the Freestyle arena ended with glowing success for Ruth Hogan-Poulsen and the 6-year-old Hanovarian mare, Dream Lady (Dream of Glory x St. Pr. Annabell, Amani).

“Pepper” and Hogan-Poulsen earned Freestyle successes throughout the year, resulting in wins of both the 2005 Annual Musical Freestyle Award at First Level and the 2005 Annual Musical Freestyle Challenge Award at First Level from the United States Dressage Federation.

“Pepper really enjoys the showring, especially when the music is playing,” says Hogan-Poulsen.

Imported from Germany by Hogan-Poulsen in the fall of 2003, “Pepper” made a strong show ring debut during 2005. The pair ended the New England show season with a decisive victory in the musical freestyle competition, earning the Region 8 First Level Freestyle Championship. With a winning combined score of 78% from the three judges, the pair earned an 85.6% individual score from Olympic judge Linda Zang (O), and a perfect “10” for the artistic rating on choice and interpretation of music.

At the August 2005 Vermont Dressage Days, Hogan-Poulsen Hogan-Poulsen premiered Finnegan (Fidermark x Doppelschnipp, Der Clou), a 6 year old Rheinlander stallion, owned by Star Bar Breeders and Sally Dininny, at Fourth Level. Winning the class with a score of 72.559%, the team has high hopes for the 2006 season.

Hogan-Poulsen and Finnegan previously participated in the 2004 USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage National Championships, placing 11th in a strong field.

Hogan-Poulsen looks forward to an exciting and successful 2006 with her young horses, training projects and students.
