After the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Cees & Vic announced that the would go independent as kur composers and would take new clients besides Van Grunsven. "We had a gentleman's agreement with Anky that we would only do her freestyles, but after the Athens Olympics we wanted to explore new opportunities so we detached ourselves from Anky," Cees Slings explained.

Most recently in 2005 Slings and Kerkhof produced two new freestyles; “Soul Collective” for Dutch A-team rider Kirsten Beckers and her stallion Broere Jazz and “Il Passeggiato” for British Team rider Wayne Channon and his KWPN stallion Lorenzo CH. With their new music, Beckers won the CDIO Rotterdam and Channon placed second in the CDI-W Lipica.

For Channon, the choice to hire Slings & Kerkhof was easy. “They are simply the best in the business. All their kurs demonstrate their deep understanding of dressage and music. Every kur is an original design and the music exactly reflects every movement performed in the test,” he said.

Slings and Kerkhof are the official composers for the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen. Their uniquely composed music will be performed in cooperation with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra.
