It's a Family Affair

While George was the Director at Tempel, his wife Roberta was Director of Program Development for 12 of those years. Roberta managed the horse shows, clinics and performances. She also handled the horse sales, public relations, media and rode in the performances.

George and Roberta, a USDF Gold and Silver medalist, met on a blind date in 1981 – a date highlighted by a "flaming argument about Richard Nixon" according to Roberta. But to this day, George claims he knew that night that he would marry Roberta. “She struck me as very bright, witty, well-spoken and she was good-natured about conceding defeat!”

Four years after that memorable meeting, the couple did indeed wed and devoted their energies in synchronization to Tempel Farms.

They have a daughter Noel, age 19, who also rides and competes in dressage. Noel was the 2005 USEF FEI Junior National Champion. In 2006 she earned her USDF Silver Medal and in 2007 she was on the Region 2 NAYRC Silver Medal team. It is not unusual to see both parents simultaneously coaching Noel at the shows.
